Founder
Dr. Yana Nakhimova
Yana Nakhimova, PhD in Social and Behavioral Health Science, is an expert in how social and psychological factors shape healthy behaviors. She designs innovative programs that empower individuals to make lasting, positive changes in mindset, behavior, and overall well-being.

Yana’s journey began at 20, when she developed her first program for the Russian Federal Service, focused on reducing youth drug use. Her PhD research identified behavioral patterns among specific drug groups, revealing cognitive distortions that sparked new strategies for public health initiatives. This groundbreaking work earned her over 10 national awards and opportunities as a visiting researcher in Europe and the U.S.

Her passion extends beyond academia to the field of movement. Over years of observing fitness enthusiasts, yogis, dancers, and athletes, Yana recognized a crucial gap: existing practices often led to injuries and rarely addressed physical, emotional, cognitive, and social well-being in an integrated way.

In 2016, after her father suffered a second stroke, Yana turned to neuroscience to support his recovery. This profound experience inspired her to combine insights from neuroscience with movement practices, focusing on the body-mind connection to foster growth and resilience.

Can we create a program that nurtures both brain and body? Can movement truly inspire holistic well-being? Guided by these questions, Yana pioneered the Body Mind Method — a unique synthesis of neuroplasticity, cognitive and emotional development, and physical exercises in one system. Her method bridges the gap between science and different wellness practices, highlighting the transformative power of movement.

In November 2023, Dr. Nakhimova received a Green Card as a scientist of extraordinary ability. Now based in San Francisco, she is committed to expanding the Body Mind Method, training professionals, and empowering individuals and organizations to redefine the role of movement in achieving their full potential.

Dr. Edward Boyden is a world-renowned neuroscientist and bioengineer, celebrated for his groundbreaking contributions to the field of neurotech. His research focuses on developing innovative tools to analyze, repair, and simulate the brain, and applying them to problems ranging from treating disorders such as blindness and Alzheimer's disease, to understanding the fundamental mechanisms underlying decisions and emotions.

Boyden brings his deep expertise in neuroscience to help refine and validate the Body Mind Method. His guidance helps our approach be not only innovative, but also grounded in rigorous scientific principles, enhancing the effectiveness of our programs in promoting brain health.
